You might be here because...
· Relationship patterns are leaving you feeling confused
You're trying to understand what's actually happening in your relationship, and what your role and responsibilities actually are
· You're getting invalidating messages from people close to you
You're exhausted from being told "you're too sensitive," "you're imagining things," or "you're making a big deal out of nothing"
· Your self-reliance has you questioning the need for support
You're not sure your situation is "bad enough" to justify getting help, but you're also worried that what you're dealing with is unsustainable
· You keep ending up here - you don't want this for your kids
You want to break the cycles you saw growing up and pave the way for healthier relationships
· You don't want to live like this anymore
You know something needs to change, but you're not sure if you can face the upheaval on your own
· You know it's not okay, but you can't seem to end it
You're wanting to free yourself of a trauma bond, but it feels impossible - every time you get close to ending it, they suddenly improve their behaviour
For when you're trying to make sense of it
Sometimes it helps to slow down and look at the patterns alongside the feelings.

This guided self-assessment takes around 10 minutes to complete. It provides an opportunity to step back and consider what's happening from a different perspective.
There's no score shown at the end; instead, you'll get an overview related to your responses.

A BIT ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Shannon - ACA Registered Counsellor
I bring professional expertise and plenty of lived experience to the therapy space.
Expect warmth, curiosity, and compassion from our very first session.
There's no need to walk on eggshells - you're encouraged to fully express yourself without holding back.

My approach draws on a range of modalities, including emotionally focused therapy, somatic and attachment-based work, although, for most people, what actually makes the difference is simply having a space to feel safe enough to be fully understood.

I know this personally, too. I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until several years ago, after a lifetime of feeling chronically misunderstood without knowing why. I bring this experience into my work with neurodivergent clients and people navigating trauma.
If any of this sounds familiar - the confusion, self-doubt or the feeling of being too much - you're in the right place. I've got you!

The best thing you can do for yourself is talk to Shannon, just make that first appointment and you'll be so thankful you did. She is so compassionate, understanding, experienced, patient, positive and wise.
I went from feeling completely disoriented and unsure to now being so calm and in control, with all my questions answered and am now more myself than ever.

I am very blessed to have found Shannon at Wonder Counselling! Before our phone consult (just via email), I knew that she was someone I could trust; someone who genuinely cares about people.
I've seen many therapists during my life, and it was such an amazing breath of fresh air (that I didn't even know I needed), to have found someone who truly understands the impacts of narcissistic behaviours.
Shannon created such a safe, warm and inviting environment. I can not recommend her enough!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions before you book
What can counselling help with? Counselling can help you make sense of difficult experiences, relationship patterns, emotional distress and the ways past experiences may be affecting you now. Sessions can provide a space to understand what's happening, develop greater self-awareness and work towards meaningful change.
Do I need to know exactly what's wrong before I start counselling? No. You don't need to have everything figured out before you reach out. Sometimes the starting point is simply knowing that something isn't working, that you're struggling, or that you want to understand yourself or your relationships better.
What types of relationship issues do you work with? I work with a range of complex relationship dynamics, including recurring relationship patterns, communication difficulties, boundaries, emotional disconnection, relationship anxiety, difficult breakups and the effects of unhealthy or emotionally harmful relationships.
Do you work with people recovering from narcissistic or emotionally abusive relationships? Yes. Counselling can help you make sense of confusing relationship dynamics, rebuild trust in your own perceptions, understand patterns that developed within the relationship and reconnect with your sense of self.
Is counselling suitable if I'm not experiencing a mental health disorder? Yes! You don't need a diagnosis or mental health condition to benefit from counselling. People seek counselling for many reasons, including relationship difficulties, life changes, persistent patterns they want to understand, emotional overwhelm and wanting to develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I personally view it as a great investment that can potentially save you from a lot of suffering - it can also save you money in the long run.
Do you offer counselling online? Yes. Sessions are conducted online, so you can access counselling from wherever you are in Australia - Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, regional towns and remote areas. I also provide counselling outside Australia (excluding North America due to licensing restrictions in this location).

I acknowledge and pay respect to the ancestors and descendants of the Lands, Waters and Skies across which I work.
I hold particular gratitude for the Traditional Custodians of Bundjalung Nation who, for many thousands of years, have been deeply connected to the Land I grew up on.
I remain committed to learning from Traditional Custodians' wisdom and ways.
